Mechanics at almost 140 new car dealerships across the Chicago area went on strike Tuesday, potentially throwing a hitch into some auto repairs. The strike took effect at 12:01 a.m. on August 1 and included almost 2,000 mechanics, according to the Automobile Mechanics’ Union Local 701, which represents the mechanics.

Q. David, could you please give us an update on the upcoming accounting rule changes?
A. Changes in lease accounting rules have been 12, maybe even 15 years in the making, and it's all about the convergence of the standards so the investment community, globally, could have one set of accounting standards. The new standards came out early in 2016; first the international standards in January, and then the US standards in February.

Skimming devices that crooks install inside fuel station gas pumps frequently rely on an embedded Bluetooth component allowing thieves to collect stolen credit card data from the pumps wirelessly with any mobile device. The downside of this approach is that Bluetooth-based skimmers can be detected by anyone else with a mobile device. Now, investigators in New York say they are starting to see pump skimmers that use cannibalized cell phone components to send stolen card data via text message.
